Albin Baptist Church: October 2026

Faithfully Present in a Small Community

In the small agricultural community of Albin, Wyoming, Albin Baptist Church has been a faithful presence for more than a century. Located about 45 minutes from Cheyenne, Albin is home to roughly 160 people, and Albin Baptist is the only church in town.

The church’s story began in 1905, when believers gathered in a small building on the Wyoming Nebraska border known as the Gary Church. Many of those early believers were Swedish immigrants, and services were held in Swedish.

From its earliest days, Albin Baptist has had a heart for the Rocky Mountain region, helping establish churches throughout Wyoming and Colorado. Today, that same heart for ministry continues as the church seeks to be the light of Christ in its community.

Their mission is simple: “We exist to love God, love people, and transform our community by sharing the hope, truth, and grace of Jesus Christ.”

Meet Pastor John and Rhonda

Pastor John Morrison grew up in a large city in Texas and came to Christ while attending college in Florida at age 20. After pastoring two churches in Colorado, John and his wife, Rhonda, came to Albin.

Although John had never lived in a community as small as Albin, he quickly embraced the opportunity to serve in a rural setting. He believes the need for the Gospel is just as great in small communities as it is in large cities.

John and Rhonda live out that calling by getting to know their neighbors, serving through community events, and looking for opportunities to demonstrate the love of Christ. Rhonda also serves as an educator in the local public school. After 40 years of marriage, the Morrisons continue to serve together as they invest in the people of Albin.

Living the Gospel in Albin

Albin Baptist Church has found meaningful ways to care for its community. When families experience grief, the church comes alongside them with meals and practical support. They regularly pray for and encourage teachers and workers at the local public school, help neighbors who are in need, and lend a hand whenever there is an opportunity to serve.

When crisis comes, Albin Baptist strives to be among the first to respond.

For this small church, ministry is often less about large programs and more about being present, serving faithfully, and living the life of Christ among their neighbors.

How You Can Pray

Please pray for moisture for Albin and the surrounding farming communities. This drought has been one of the worst in many years and has brought significant stress to farmers, ranchers, and families.

Pray for God's provision, strength, and peace for those affected. Pray that Albin Baptist Church will continue to be a faithful light in the community and that people will encounter the hope, truth, and grace of Jesus through the church.
